Washington Island, day two or three

Washington Island, WI is a wonderful little lakeside place.  On our second day or was it third we spent the morning visiting with some folks we had met the day before at the marina.  Jeanne and Ward from the Jeanne Marie (sailboat) where just wonderful folks.  They are from Wisconsin and had been cruising most of the summer.  Mike reviewed some charts with Ward and Jeanne and I talked about everything from boats to babies.

In the afternoon we decided to take the ferry over to Rock Island.  There are no cars, no bikes, just your feet are permitted there.  The island was originally owned by a gentleman that invented the transformer (sorry don't have his name handy).  The boat house that he had built was phenomenal.  We took a 1.25 mile hike up the mountain to the lighthouse on the island.  It was all a really wonderful place.

See the Lady J there at the Washington Island Municipal Marina.
This guy road over on the ferry with us (and his owner).
