Monday has got to get better right? Well yes it did. We hung around the marina for a little while, but about 10:00 a.m. we decided to chance the weather and just go. It started out pretty dark and overcast and windy. On our way out of 12 Mile Bay we hit a really rough patch. 12 Mile Bay opens directly into Georgian Bay and the wind was once again hitting us on our beam, which makes the Lady J roll like a pig in slop. We knew that if we could hold onto her (literally) for about 20 minutes to get out of the bay and turn into the channel we would be in calmer water, protected by more islands. So Mike grabbed the wheel with both hands, I held on for dear life and off we went. After about 20 minutes and a lot of white knuckling and some serious prayers being raised up we made it through. Whew! we were then on to Henry’s on Frying Pan Island.

The morning started out looking a little stormy. |

Coming out of 12 Mile Bay, current, wind and waves. HOLD ON!!! |

It looked pretty ominous but it cleared up within the hour. |
Okay sounds a little hokey, but it was a fun little place. We literally spent the night tied up at the dock in front of Henry’s Fish Restaurant. The place has been around forever. Those of us who were staying the night were tied up close to the land, and then those just coming for dinner were tied up behind us. So there was a constant parade of folks coming and going all day. That in itself was entertainment. Henry’s was a great place to spend the night. The staff there was awesome, mostly college age students who actually lived on the island, bunked in one of the two houses and then there was another house where the owner and his family lived. Kind of brought back memories of the movie Dirty Dancing. Folks would come and go for lunch and dinner, bring the kids, dogs you name it. The even had a whole area set up for just the dogs so they could enjoy a shady spot and some water while their humans had a meal. And the food was really good, and portions huge. We each were able to get two meals out of our lunch. We chose to eat on the porch since it was such a lovely day. Along with boats coming and going there were also several float planes coming and going. There are no cars on this island you can only come and go by boat, float plane and oh yeah the big one, helicopter. Yes there is a helicopter pad behind the restaurant. There were two young families docked near us that kids were enjoying swimming in the water by their boats. They had this adorable puppy who enjoyed the water just as much as the kids. We watched them play for hours. After the heat wave we had last week the weather has turned much cooler and was able to finally turn off the air conditioner and actually had to pull up a heavier blanket. They are predicting high winds again tomorrow so not sure if we will stay here or move on. We’ll see in the morning.
