St. Ignace

Gorgeous morning leaving Drummond Island
We were able to get out of Drummond Island before 7:00 a.m. It's amazing how many Loopers left early that morning.  We were headed to St. Ignace, which is across the bridge from Mackinaw City.  The trip was to take us approximately 6 hours.  The waters were calm and the morning was beautiful. We came across a commercial fisherman, a freighter while working our way through the St. Mary's River to Lake Huron.  Once in Lake Huron the cruising was awesome the lake was like glass, well......at least until about 2 hours from our destination.  then the waves started to pick up.  It was we were hitting the waves right straight on the bow.  This as I have mentioned before is like trying to ride a mechanical bull.  But with Mike changing his location for operating the boat to inside the cabin, things were much better and not quite so rocky.
We passed lighthouses
Freighters
Commercial fishermen
Cruising was perfect.
The water was like glass.
Then the waves started
The boat needed a good washing anyway.
Being down at the lower helm was a site to see.
Looking directly through the front window
We took a bit of a beating, but Lady J kept us safe and sound.
We arrived in St. Ignace around 1:30 p.m. and were greeted by several other loopers that we have met along the way.  We were quick to settle in, you find after doing this for the past two months it takes little time to go through the steps of getting your boat settled.  At 4:00 that afternoon we walked over to the Thursday farmers market and bought some veggies and fresh bread, it was nicely located right next to the marina.  We also took a trip down to the hardware store, found a seat that Mike can make him a "Captains Chair" for the lower helm and we picked up a cooler so that I can work on defrosting that freezer.  We came back to the boat and enjoyed a spaghetti dinner on board.  Afterwards we walked back over to the entertainment area near the dock for a concert.  And once again we were treated to another beautiful sunset.  I never, ever get tired of those.

We enjoyed the local Thursday farmers market, located right next to the marina.

Everyone is a masterpiece in itself.
