Georgian Bay here we come!

Sunday morning we decided to start our leap across Georgian Bay.  It was a beautiful sunny morning, the wind was okay, still blowing but not as hard as the day before.  The scenery again was awe inspiring.  The water is blue as can be, and we now see why Georgian Bay is considered the Bay of 30,000 island.  This was absolutely not a place for Fred (our auto pilot).  Mike put his navigating skills to use and was doing a beautiful job. Here are some photos of the bay.
The Bay is filled with 30,000 rock islands many with homes on them.

And boat houses

Then there was just this random pile of wood.

And Million Dollar Homes.

Many of the Islands had names painted on them, not sure if this is a family name or not.

Beautiful Homes everywhere!

Just a "little" cottage, yowza

Signs every where that we are so blessed to be on this journey.

Interesting rock formations

As the day proceeded on the wind began to building and the weather station then started talking about a squall warning.  Okay now time to make some decisions, do we try and anchor out or find a marina.  Find a marina is what we chose, so we worked our way up 12 mile bay and found a small marina.  Luckily they had a place for us, but boy did they take advantage of our situation and over charge us for the night.  But at this point we were happy just to have a place to tie up.  As we were tying up at the dock, with help of other boaters around  (Yes 4 gentlemen met me at the dock to take our lines) the sky became nasty and the wind was really picking up.  We got everything in place just as the store took over.  And of course the electricity goes out, ugh, on to the generator for some lights.

The storms were building so we ducked into 12 Mile Bay to find a place to tie up.
Found this little marina just in time.

Awesome cloud formations

WARNING WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ, MIGHT GROSS YOU OUT!

Okay now comes some unpleasantries, as we have said before boating is not all cocktails and sunsets, although we have enjoyed many a sunsets, but this time we had head problems and I am not talking the one on our shoulders.  So yes I am going to share this part of our life too.  That morning in Midland we had pumped the holding tank out.  It was free with a fuel purchase, which we had made.  Later that day I had gone to the head and notice there was a different smell than what usually came from the head.  Those that own boats with heads understand what I am referring to.  Now Mike has accused me of having a nose like a blood hound, which I must admit I do, but this one was just different and I couldn’t figure out why.  So after being thrashed around in the bay and finally getting settled I told Mike we needed to figure out what was going on with the head.  Well guess what folks we figured it out.  Mike brings out to me two zip lock bags that have our prescription drugs in them.  I had the forethought to put many of the bathroom articles in zip lock bags mostly because of moisture issues.  He said there is this brown stuff on them that looks like saw dust, well I knew right away it wasn’t saw dust, yes you guessed it.  After freaking out just a bit, we took everything out from under the sink and behind the head.  My job was to clean up the stuff and Mike’s job was to find out where the leak was.  We located the leak in an elbow joint where the so called black water comes from the holding tank to the outside receptacle.  I won’t go into to much detail other than to say IT WAS GROSS!!!   Everything had to be cleaned inside and out (which Mike took care of) and then he rejoined the pvc pipe and we prayed it would hold.  We will find out next time we go to pump out.  Now remember while all this is going on we have no electric and it is storming out.  At the same time I am discovering that we have several leaking ports (windows) so I am going around laying out plastic bags with towels on them.   Oh yes this is the life of a cruisers.  That evening was pretty stressful and I must admit the first mate had a bit of a melt down.  But oh what a difference a day can make.

That's not as really as bad as it looks, that big chunk of brown is actually a piece of wood.

Leaky ports, and everything taken out near the head to be cleaned.

Ports that leak on your bed must be dealt with quickly.
