Galley & Dinette Renovations

Before-It was bad, but just not our style, more the style of a 70 year old man.

Too much brown

Old stove had to go

We moved out the fridge and microwave, but ended up bringing them back the fridge since it was still in great condition.

Brown has gotta go!

Measuring for the beadboard

All drawers and doors removed.  Mike made all new ones.

More measurements for beadboard

Cardboard patterns

Sanding and priming the cabinet frames

Removing the stove

Completed dinette
New cabinet fronts, plus the new extended counter top

Wine glass holders Mike made

We didn't have enough money for new flooring so Jana sanded the floors and painted them with deck paint.

  1. Wow that looks like it was a lot of work - but so much nicer! Our old boat had a similar 70 year old man vibe too :-) Cheers - Ellen

    1. Thanks Ellen, you are like the first person to ever leave a comment. Unfortunately not many folks see our site, but we do have folks that follow us on Facebook. I stopped by your site briefly, but plan to go back for some more in depth reading. Really like what I saw. Now we are busy getting things ready for shoving off for a 10 week cruise to through the Erie Canal. Our boat has been a labor of love as our house (120 years old) was when we took it over. But it was sold this past January in preparations for more living aboard and cruising. Okay I must stop, because I could go on forever. Glad to hear from someone who is "walking the walk" so to speak. Thanks again for the kind words.

  2. Your work is beautiful Jana... the dinette area is so bright and cheery now. I love your changes -- they've made a big difference, and the wine glass holder is spiffy too. Congratulations and enjoy.

Hope to see you one day along the waterways.
