We left Presque Isle, PA early and made our way to Dunkirk NY we had another great weather window so we scooted out of there and made it into NY with no trouble at all. The Dunkirk Yacht club had come highly recommended by several of our boater friends along with several groups Mike belongs to. The Yacht Club is very unassuming (just the way we like them) but very very friendly. It is located next to a coal burning power plant, which you might think would be bad, but it didn't really effect anything. The club was close to a couple restaurants, laundromat, some shops and ice cream. They were calling for some crummy weather to come in so we decided to stay for two nights and make the best of it. We had our first venture out to the laundromat on our bikes. It really went much easier than either of us had expected. We were able to bike the three blocks and get 2 loads of laundry done, even walked across the street to Tim Hortons for a little something to drink and some timbits.

Much cooler to sit outside and wait for the laundry to finish. Thanks to Bob our friend in Sandusky for keeping Mike company on the phone while I did laundry. |

This is how we roll to the laundromat. Mike wears his Vera well.
Later in the afternoon we took the bikes out to do a little exploring, we found a great old lighthouse and park to ride around in.
Great Lighthouse that you could tour. |
The town rolled up the streets so we rode on the sidewalks. |
Dunkirk Yacht Club, though unassuming was a wonderful welcoming place to be and we will definitely stay here on our way back. By the way your first night was free and the second was just $1.00 per foot.
