Clyde to Fairport, NY

Happy to be docked when this came by
We woke yesterday morning to rain, rain, rain.  We decided to stay a little while in Clyde to wait out this rain.  While waiting a large barge came by. Boy that was  a site to see.  Mike's comment was boy I am glad we aren't out on the canal trying to dodge this one.  These barges are used when dredging the canal, it's amazing how they can maneuver the huge things around.  After the rain I had stepped outside to check out the area and found a wonderful spider web that had actually lasted through the downpour.  The strength of these delicate webs are seems to be as strong as steel

Just beautiful artistry

We finally were able to pull away from the dock in Clyde about 12:30 p.m.  We headed back west across the canal towards Fairport, where we had been a couple of weeks ago.  The cruising was just beautiful.  The sky cleared up and the clouds were just gorgeous.

The Locks at Newark

The locks at Macedon where not in the best of shape

Mike said this could be our next project.  I don't think so!

The clouds after the storm were just beautiful.

We arrived in Fairport about 6:00 p.m. after a little over 5 hours of cruising and transitioning through 5 locks.  I must admit our locking skills certainly has improved over the last couple of weeks.  Communication is the key to making it an enjoyable experience.  Our motto has become "stick to the task at hand".  Don't try to do more than one task at a time or things have a tendency to go bad.

Okay side note as I am sitting here drinking my coffee at 6:30 a.m. I look out the window and what goes by the window, a rowing team.  It actually was a group of middle age folks.  Not quite what I expected to see this early in the morning but I have to give them a hand they cruising through that water like a hot knife through butter.  Okay enough about that.

We spent a nice evening here in Fairport.  Actually found a place that served ice cream.  I know that may sound weird, but this whole trip we have not found one ice cream store anywhere near where we have been docked.  And to think before we left one of our goals was to try as many ice cream places as possible.  Hmmm do you think someone is trying to tell us something.  Oh well what we did have last night was quite good.

During our walk around town last night Mike found a wonderful used tool shop.  I thought I had lost him forever.  It was like walking into someone's garage.  It really was a fun place.  We also came across a group of folks (lawn chairs and all) hanging out by the railroad tracks.  I guess one of the ways to entertain yourself in the evenings is to pull up a chair next to the railroad tracks and watch the trains.  There are three tracks that run by this location and an assortment of trains from commuter, to trains hauling "stuff".  Wow I really can't come up with the correct word that describes this but you get the idea.
Just to the left of this photo was a good size group of folks just watching the trains.
We are off this morning for Brockport (I think).  After  a while you forget what day of the week it is and where you are exactly, but oh what a wonderful time we are having.

The Lady J rests after a good day of cruising.

Not to many boats docked this evening.  Makes for a quiet night.

The bridge just in front of where out boat is docked.  This bridge is one of a kind built on an
angle and no to angles on the boat are the same.
