Kingston

Okay it has only taken me about 3 days to get this posted.  Internet connection in Kingston was not that strong so how about a couple of updates about Kingston from Trenton.

What a wonderful town Kingston is.  Mornings in Kingston are leisurely since most things do not open until 9:30 a.m.  We decided to stop in the visitors center first thing just to check out what there was to do and see.  We opted for the Hop on Hop off Trolley.  It's basically like any other tour bus, where you buy a ticket for the day and can get off and on as often as you like.  We decided to go on the complete tour and then ride back to the places we actually wanted to stay.

The water in our marina was crystal clear as you can tell from this photo

The big and small of it, funny thing is the small wasn't really that small.

TRAIN

The beautiful Kingston Visitor Center

Exquisite chalk drawings

Kingstons town hall

The fountain in front of the visitors center

Gorgeous flowers were everywhere

Kingston Brewing Company, great place for lunch and beer.

Yes more flowers

The Hop on Hop Off Trolley, a great way to see the town.

The tour on the trolley took about an hour and 15 minutes.  Afterwards we stopped for lunch at the Kingston Brewing Company.  The food was good and Mike said the beer hit the spot.  Afterwards we decided to hop back on the trolley and head over to Fort Henry to take the tour.

A great view of downtown Kingston from the Trolley Tour

Daily task for watering the flowers.

Intersting sculpture at Queens College

So many beautiful churches

Yes I know more flowers, can't help it I loved them.

Stopped long enough during lunch to take a picture.

Fort Henry

The was part of the Military Parade at Fort Henry

The parade was definitely worth waiting for.

Afterwards we came back to the boat relaxed and had a light dinner, this was to make sure we had room for ice cream. Which we found and partook of some but boy was it a little pricey.

These two little cups were $7.50.  Not sure it was worth the price, but it did taste good.

A walk back to the Lady J

A beautiful evening.

We had plans to leave the following morning to start our way over to the Trent Severn.  But the weather had other plans.  You know what they say, "Man plans, God laughs".  The winds were howling and the rain poured a great deal of the morning.  It did slow down long enough for us to get over to the weekly farmers market and boy are we glad we did. One of the best ones we have been to yet.

So many colorful things to buy.

More beauty

Some yummy baked goods

Produce was plentiful

And yes even some Canadian Maple Syrup

The rain didn't stop us we just put on our rain gear and went.
Since we had spent most of the following day at the Fort, Mike said we could take a walk down Princess Street (yes that is the real name.) This is the main location of all the shops/restaurants.

Occasionally I look down while we are walking and look what I found

This guy was great, I asked if I could take his picture he said "sure everyone does".
We saw him riding all over town with this cat.

Oh all the pretty colors.

These two cuties were waiting outside a coffee shop for their owner.  (Guy in the red shirt on the left)

Our haul from the farmers market.  Can't keep too much fresh produce around it goes bad pretty quickly.

Kingston was a lovely town with lots to do, see and eat.  But be prepared to dole out a little cash for the experience.  Next we are on to the Trent-Severn Waterway.
