Bobcaygeon

Docked here in Bobcaygeon
Bobcaygeon, Mike keeps thinking it is someones name and I must agree with him.  We arrived here on Friday afternoon actually it was just about noon, after traveling for about 4 hours. The cruise over from Deer Bay where we had anchored out the night before was a great time.  We saw all kinds of different boats on the water, even for the first time saw another Gulfstar.  Trust me there are not to many of us around.
This little thing caught our eye, not quite sure how well she handles but get the job done.

First sailboat we saw, it's a little one though, water is too shallow for very big ones.

Yay! another Gulfstar is out on the water.

We decided to hang out in a marina for a couple of days.  Traveling on the weekends are crazy, specially with so many boat rentals out there.  So we found an old marina, literally has been around since 1903, (Gordon's).  The price was good, the folks were friendly and they had just enough room for us, plus they had a pump out and that is always good.  So after getting everything taken care of we decided to go for a walk into town and get a bite to eat.  The lady at the marina suggested we go to a place called For the Halibut.  It was a nice little family run restaurant on the other end of town, food was good and service was wonderful.  Once again we ordered Putine, Mike loves this stuff.

Putine, Fries, with rich brown gravy and cheese curds, sounds kind of gross but actually doesn't taste to bad, the gravy is what makes it worth while.

Bobcaygeon is like any other small tourist town, streets lined with shops and such.

Cute benches

The water is so clear you can see the bottom

Lots and Lots of rentals

This is what happens to traffic when boats are locking through town.

After lunch we strolled through town, stopping at the local bakery, which Mike informed me he could get used to having fresh bread every couple of days.  Then a quick stop to the local grocery store to pick up a few things and we were back on our way to the marina.  I had some cleaning up to do and Mike wanted to work on checking the props and working on the Baby J.  As a side note, the Baby J incurred a little damage to it back in Buffalo when we were leaving.  This was the first time Mike had the opportunity to give a look at it.  Luckily with his amazing skills he was able to get it back in working order.  Also took a dip in the canal to look at the props which were clean and good to go.

Checking out the props, luckily the water was only about 5 feet deep and clear.

Making repairs to the Baby J

Good as new

We spent a quiet evening in, that is after taking a walk over to the Kawartha Dairy in town for some ice cream, us and about 50 other folks.  I must admit it was quite yummy.  As I said earlier (I think) Bobcaygeon is very much a tourist town, filled with shops, restaurants, and many things to do and see.  On the weekends places like this can get a bit hairy and our plans were to rest up these two days here at the marina after a long week of cruising.  So we didn't do much site seeing just mostly worked on boat chores and hung around the boat.  Saturday it rained off and on all day.  Mike finished up the work on the Baby J and I spent most of the morning cleaning the boat.  It is amazing how this small space can get dirty so quickly.  Mike actually took a well deserved nap in the afternoon while I walked down to the farmers market to pick up a few things for dinner.  We ate on board, did some planning for the following day and enjoyed our ever continuing game of cards. Oh yes and received two wonderful texts with pictures of our adorable Grandsons, just what we needed to brighten this rainy day.

Our 3 year old Grandson, Miles, enjoying the day with his Mom at the Zoo, Pirates and Pancakes day.

Our youngest Grandson, Jacob, what a little cutie

And it rained.

Captain making plans for our cruising on Sunday

While the Captain napped, the First mate read and enjoyed some tea and cookies.

Ended the evening with some cards.  Check out those awesome cards Greg and Linda bought us.

Sunday morning arrived with fog, that I must admit was beautiful.  Not sure where we will end today but it's going to be a beautiful day.

A foggy morning at Bobcaygeon.
