A Great day in Spencerport, NY

Busy day in and around all the rain.  We were in Spencerport, NY one more day.  We were busy most of the day, hence the reason this post didn't make it until this morning.  We awoke to a pretty cool morning with temps in the high 50's and rain forecasted in and out throughout the day.  So our mind set was we were just going to go on about our day rain or not.  The morning was pretty leisurely doing some boat chores, chasing down some more leaks and general cleaning up.  When you are in a space this small you need to keep things picked up or you won't have room to move around.

Since the day before we had gone out to eat we decided to make this day an eat in kind of day.  We had a good deal of brisket left over from yesterdays lunch so I used that and some other things in the fridge to make some beef and noodles for lunch.  Yes we seemed to have taken on the old folks eating habits of eating a little bit larger meal at lunch and a smaller one at dinner.

A pot of beef and noodles on for lunch, helped warm up the cabin on a cold rainy day.

After lunch we decided to go for yet another walk.  You do that a lot as a boater since it is one of the few ways to get around.  I had a particular birthday card that needed mailed to a young man who's birthday is on Saturday (Zachary) and we wanted to stop by the grocery store to pick up a few things.    We also toured another part of town.  Can I just say Spencerport has some of the most beautiful old houses, if you visit, please take the time to go for a walk it is well worth it.

A stop at the post office to mail Zach's birthday card.

More beautiful old houses, this one reminded me of my Grandmother's house.

And of course the beautiful flowers

We even stopped by an old cemetery

One crazy looking tree where they had cut down the limbs on one side

Trip to the grocery store.  We split the bags and each had a load to carry back.

After running around we arrived back to the boat just in time for it to rain once again.  So time to find some inside things to do.  I worked on some shorts that needed taking in while Mike worked on replacing some of the wood work he had taken down while chasing leaks.  After the rain stopped we enjoyed some time visiting with our other dock mates.  I was delighted to be able to take some photos of the young couple Ken & Nicole and their little guy.  You meet some amazing folks while cruising.
The rain was coming again so inside we went

Oh well at least it isn't snow.

Sewing supplies, did you really think I would leave without them.

This was my Mom's machine.  Can't bare to take the tape off that my Mom put on years ago to mark 5/8 of an inch.

Hanging out at the dock.

After hanging out in the afternoon with some folks that were docked with us we once again had to return back to the boat because of rain.  That's okay it was time for some dinner anyway.  Since we had enjoyed a pretty big lunch I made a lighter dinner of bruschetta and some meat and cheese.  It worked well as the boat was getting a bit warmer and heating up the stove was just not a good idea.

After dinner we took a walk down to the end of the dock and met a new couple who had just come in for the night.  They were from Huron, yay another Ohioan.  We chatted with them for a while and then because we had such a light dinner we walked over to the custard place in town and enjoyed a little something sweet.  Afterwards went for yet another walk, this time on the other side of the dock.  Ended the evening sitting outside with the other boaters.  Tomorrow (actually today) we are off to Pittsford, NY,  hope to get across the Genesee River without to much trouble.

Tom and Mary Wolf from Huron.

Check out the rainbow.  Sign of a good day.

YUM!  Okay First mate started eating hers before the photo was taken.

The Captain does love his frozen treats.

It has been a great day in Spencerport, despite all the rain.

This little guy was running around humming God Bless America.  Loved it!

More gorgeous flowers

Happy Captain.
